DAY6 member Wonpil has surprised fans with a special musical gift, releasing a heartfelt cover of I Like You.. that quickly received affectionate responses from the group's fandom, My Day.

On October 22, Wonpil uploaded a new video titled WONPIL - I Like You.. (Romance 101 X george cover) on DAY6's official YouTube channel.

The song was originally released by singer george on February 18, 2021, as part of a collaboration with the Naver webtoon Romance 101.

Known for his gentle and emotional singing style, Wonpil gave the track his own interpretation, using his warm vocals to express the feelings of someone who wants to stay by the side of the person they love.

The video also featured a drama-style storyline, allowing Wonpil to show his acting skills alongside his singing.

However, what made the release especially meaningful was that Wonpil had already hinted at wanting to cover the song two months earlier.

On August 21, he recommended george's I Like You.. to fans through the communication platform Bubble.

At the time, Wonpil wrote, "There's a song I wanted us to listen to together."

He continued, "I've really been enjoying this song lately. If I get the chance, I'd like to sing it properly for you."

Two months later, Wonpil fulfilled that wish by recording and releasing his own version of the song.

The unexpected release delighted fans, who filled the video's comment section with affectionate messages.

Some responded to the song's romantic theme as though Wonpil had personally confessed his feelings to them.

One fan commented, "I like you too, Wonpil.."

Another wrote, "I really like you too."

Others playfully competed to express their affection, leaving messages such as "I like you even more, Pil."

One fan also described the surprise release as a gift, writing, "An angel has brought us another present."

The enthusiastic responses showed how Wonpil's simple song recommendation in August had turned into a meaningful moment between the singer and his fans.

Wonpil's performance also highlighted his experience in acting.

He made his musical theater debut in Midnight Sun in 2021 and later appeared in the web drama Best Mistake 3 in 2022.

He also played the lead character in the music video for Love Ward, the title track of his solo release Unpiltered, which came out earlier this year.

His latest cover brought together those experiences, combining his emotional singing with a short drama-like performance.

Meanwhile, Wonpil has continued to build his solo career while remaining active with DAY6.

His solo mini album Unpiltered, released on March 30, achieved strong results on Korean music charts, with all its tracks entering Melon's Top 100.

The release also recorded his highest solo album sales at the time.

His solo concerts, held from May 1 to 3 at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul, sold out all seats.

Wonpil later performed as a solo festival headliner at Beautiful Mint Life 2026 on May 31.

Alongside his individual activities, he has remained busy with DAY6 members Sungjin, Young K, and Dowoon.

The group is scheduled to hold its official fan meeting, EVERY DAY6, EVERY My Day, from October 23 to 25 at Inspire Arena in Incheon.

With the fan meeting approaching, Wonpil's surprise cover has given My Day another reason to celebrate.

What began as a casual recommendation on Bubble has now become a musical gift, with Wonpil keeping his promise to sing I Like You.. and fans responding with their own affectionate messages.
