TWICE's Dahyun is continuing to expand her acting career as she takes on a leading role alongside actor Cha Woo Min in the upcoming youth romance film Gureumi Gureumi (구름이 구르미).
On October 21, the production of the new Korean film was officially confirmed, with Dahyun and Cha Woo Min announced as the main leads. The movie will follow a heartfelt first love story between two high school students who come from different backgrounds.
Dahyun will play Gureum, a 17-year-old high school student who uses a wheelchair due to paralysis in her lower body. She is a member of her school's art club and has spent her life navigating the world from a different perspective.
Cha Woo Min will portray Junsan, a promising young swimmer who has dedicated much of his life to the sport. Despite his athletic talent, he struggles with personal insecurities and emotional difficulties that he keeps hidden from others.
Their characters first meet at the school's swimming pool. After Junsan gets into a conflict with an older student and is temporarily removed from training, he is assigned volunteer work, with Gureum becoming his mentor.
What begins as an unexpected connection gradually develops into a story about first love, personal growth, and two young people learning to understand each other's experiences.
Rather than focusing only on romance, Gureumi Gureumi aims to explore how two teenagers with different challenges can influence each other's lives and discover new possibilities.
The upcoming movie will be directed by Choi Sun Min, who previously worked as a co-director on several JTBC dramas, including King the Land, Miss Night and Day, and Waiting for Gyeongdo.
The screenplay was written by Shin Hyun Ji, while Take One Studio and SLL are handling production, with Take One Company presenting the project.
For Dahyun, the film marks another step in her growing career as an actress while continuing her activities as a member of TWICE. Her new role will allow her to explore a character with a different background and emotional journey.
Meanwhile, Cha Woo Min will take on the role of a young athlete whose personal struggles become an important part of the film's coming-of-age story.
Filming for Gureumi Gureumi is currently underway, with the movie targeting a release in 2027. An exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
