Virtual K-pop boy group PLAVE has reached a new career milestone after their latest mini album, HYPERDRIVE, sold more than 1.32 million copies in its first week, setting a new personal record for the group.
According to Hanteo Chart data released on October 19, PLAVE's fifth mini album HYPERDRIVE, which was released on October 13, recorded approximately 1.32 million copies sold during its first seven days.
The achievement marks the highest first-week album sales of PLAVE's career, surpassing their previous record of more than 1.25 million copies set by their fourth mini album, Caligo Pt.2, in April.
With their latest release, PLAVE has once again demonstrated strong album sales, adding another million-selling record to their growing list of achievements.
The group's success was not limited to physical album sales.
Following the release of HYPERDRIVE, all five songs from the album occupied the top five positions on a domestic music chart, showing strong interest in the group's new music.
The title track, Star Trace, was joined by Kkun, Rain in the Blue Sky, The Answer Is Yes, and Rewind in the top five rankings.
As of October 20, a week after the album's release, the songs continued to maintain strong positions on the music charts.
Released approximately six months after Caligo Pt.2, the new album contains five tracks exploring different musical styles. The project also introduces a new chapter in PLAVE's musical direction.
PLAVE, consisting of Yejun, Noah, Bamby, Eunho, and Hamin, is a five-member virtual idol group managed by VLAST.
Unlike traditional K-pop groups, PLAVE performs through animated virtual characters while the members actively participate in songwriting, composing, producing, and choreography.
The group has previously made history as a virtual act by topping major South Korean music charts and winning first place on a terrestrial television music program.
Their latest first-week sales record further highlights their growth beyond the virtual idol category, with physical album sales reaching levels commonly associated with established K-pop acts.
Meanwhile, PLAVE is continuing their first world tour, KEEP IT MANIC, which began with a concert at Incheon Munhak Stadium in September.
Following their Singapore concert on October 17, the group is scheduled to perform in Taipei on October 23 and 24, Macau on October 31 and November 1, and Los Angeles on November 14.
With HYPERDRIVE surpassing 1.32 million copies in its first week, PLAVE has set another personal best and strengthened its position in the K-pop album market.
