Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin are reuniting on screen for the first time in 10 years through MBC’s upcoming psychological thriller The Perfect Lie.
The new Friday-Saturday drama is set to premiere on October 30 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
The Perfect Lie follows two people who remember the same event in completely different ways and become locked in a tense battle over what really happened.
Yoo Yeon Seok will play Min Joon Ho, a respected cardiothoracic surgeon and single father. His character is described as warm toward his son but calm and highly controlled in his professional life.
Seo Hyun Jin takes on the role of Kang Ji Sun, an elementary school librarian who becomes connected to Min Joon Ho through one of her students’ parents.
Their relationship takes a dramatic turn after what initially appears to be a perfect date, setting up the central conflict of the series.
The drama is drawing particular attention because Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin are working together again about a decade after their previous collaboration.
MBC also released photos from the script reading, where the two actors reportedly delivered an intense performance even before filming officially began.
According to the production team, Yoo Yeon Seok moved naturally between Min Joon Ho’s gentle and colder sides, while Seo Hyun Jin focused on the emotional changes her character experiences as the story develops.
The cast also includes Ok Ja Yeon, Im Sung Jae, Kim Ji Hyun, and Lee Chun Hee, who will play characters closely connected to the mystery.
Director Jo Young Min, known for carefully portraying complex emotions, will lead the project, while Baek Jae Young wrote the screenplay.
With Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin facing each other in a story built around conflicting memories, trust, and truth, The Perfect Lie is shaping up to be one of MBC’s major psychological thrillers for the second half of 2026.
