MONSTA X’s Kihyun shared his hopes for the group’s future, saying he wants to continue promoting with the members even 10 years from now.
Kihyun recently appeared on KBS Kpop’s web variety show LeeMujin Service, where he performed several songs and talked about his music, busy schedule, and life as a longtime idol.
He opened the episode with Sweet Night, Sweet Morning, a track from MONSTA X’s latest mini album The Phase.
Explaining why he chose the song, Kihyun said, “I wanted to show sides of myself that I haven’t shown much before.”
When Lee Mujin commented on how active MONSTA X continues to be, Kihyun admitted that he had expected life to become a little more relaxed after spending so many years in the industry.
He shared, “I thought that by this age and at this point in my career, things would become more relaxed.”
Instead, Kihyun said he remained extremely busy while preparing both his solo music and MONSTA X’s album during the group’s tour.
Throughout the episode, he also performed songs including D.O.’s Popcorn, Hanroro’s Let Me Love My Youth, and John Park’s Thought of You, while discussing changes in his vocal style, his military service, and the process of preparing MONSTA X’s recent release.
Near the end of the episode, Lee Mujin asked Kihyun what he hoped he would still be doing 10 years from now.
Kihyun gave a simple answer: MONSTA X.
He said, “I want to say MONSTA X. Our songs are very intense, but I hope we can prepare well and keep doing this all the way until then.”
His answer reflected his desire to continue performing with the group despite the physical demands of MONSTA X’s music and stage performances.
MONSTA X recently completed promotions for The Phase. The group is also preparing to continue its world tour THE X : NEXUS across 10 cities in North America in October, followed by encore concerts at Inspire Arena in Incheon on November 21 and 22.
