i-dle’s Soyeon finally clears up Cube Entertainment exit talk and says she has no plans to quit despite ‘I’m quitting’ concept

i-dle member Soyeon has directly addressed the recent attention surrounding her “resignation” concept, making it clear that she is not actually planning to leave Cube Entertainment.

On September 2, Soyeon appeared on EBS program Space Gonggam for a special episode centered on her first full-length solo album The Awesome Life.

During the show, she performed the album’s title track I’m Quitting, a song built around the idea of leaving a job. She even moved into the audience during the performance, creating a playful, musical-like atmosphere.

Afterward, Soyeon joked about the meaning behind the song and her own personality.

She said, “Every time I sing this song, I somehow get emotional.”

She then added, “Isn’t the person who always says they’re going to quit usually the one who stays the longest? Sometimes I think about whether I should stop, but in the end, I think I’m that kind of person.”

Later in the program, Soyeon spoke more seriously about how much music means to her.

She said, “Music is my self-esteem,” and shared that she hopes to continue making music even when she is much older.

Soyeon then made her position even clearer, saying, “Music has always been something I’m grateful for. I want to keep doing it even when I become a grandmother, and I never want to quit.”

Her comments drew attention because Soyeon had recently posted a photo in front of Cube Entertainment’s building with the words “I’m quitting,” which caused some fans to wonder whether she was hinting at another company-related issue.

However, the message was later revealed to be part of the concept for her new solo album. Promotional material for The Awesome Life also included imagery related to a resignation letter, connecting the phrase directly to the album’s theme.

Soyeon previously attracted attention in 2024 after using lyrics during an i-dle concert that referenced the end of her contract period with Cube Entertainment.

At the time, Cube Entertainment said the lyrics were part of the performance, while Soyeon later explained that the lyrics reflected real thoughts but also asked fans not to judge the company only through media reports.

She later renewed her contract with Cube Entertainment.

With her latest comments, Soyeon appears to have put renewed exit speculation to rest, explaining that while the idea of “quitting” plays a major role in her solo album concept, she has no intention of walking away from music and continues to show affection for her current career and agency.
