i-dle’s Soyeon is taking a creative approach to her first full-length solo album by turning a resignation letter into the centerpiece of its comeback concept.
On August 27, Cube Entertainment revealed the track list for Soyeon’s first studio album The Ultimate Life, which will be released on September 7 at 6 p.m. KST.
The track list was designed to look like a resignation letter displayed on an old CRT computer monitor. However, the document is part of the album’s promotional concept and does not indicate that Soyeon is actually leaving Cube Entertainment.
The mock resignation letter gives the reason for leaving as, “I wish to resign in order to begin the ‘ultimate life’ that I can no longer put off.”
The album will contain eight tracks, led by the title song I’m Quitting (Narr. Kian84). Webtoon artist and television personality Kian84 provides narration for the track, adding a humorous element to the concept.
Other songs include icebluerabbit, which was previously introduced during i-dle’s world tour, the EDM track STAR, the playful I Hate Vegetables Song, and Amigo (Feat. Minsu), which samples Madonna’s Like a Virgin. The album also includes Bankroll, Can’t We Just Love?, and Sending Romance.
Soyeon participated in every track on the album, continuing her well-known role as a songwriter and producer. She also collaborated with producers including GroovyRoom and R.Tee, signaling a wider range of sounds for the project.
By using the idea of “quitting” as a playful metaphor for starting a new chapter, Soyeon is setting up The Ultimate Life as a solo album centered on independence, humor, and her own musical identity rather than an actual departure from her agency.
The Ultimate Life will be released on September 7.
