Singer and actress IU has postponed her upcoming solo concert and sixth full length album after revealing that her long term ear condition has recently become more serious.
On July 20, IU personally shared the news through the fan platform Berriz. She explained that the symptoms of patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction have become harder to manage after years of pushing herself through busy schedules.
“My long term symptoms have recently become more serious”, IU wrote. “I think I pushed myself too hard for several years because I wanted to keep working without properly considering my condition”.
She added that the symptoms sometimes continue throughout the day and night for several days, making it difficult for her to feel fully comfortable while singing.
Following advice from medical experts, IU decided to postpone her Goyang Stadium concert, which had been scheduled for September.
“I was told that holding a concert involving a lot of movement and sweating would be too difficult for me for the time being”, she explained.
IU also apologized to fans, saying, “I feel like my ear condition has ruined the entire second half of 2026 for all of us, and I am truly sorry”.
Because the album was being prepared alongside the concert and tour, the release of IU’s sixth full length album has also been delayed.
“I will focus on treatment and recovery so the wait does not become too long,” she said. “I will do my best to return as soon as possible in good health.”
EDAM Entertainment confirmed that the schedules were adjusted after determining that IU’s current condition would make it difficult for her to perform at a large scale concert.
The agency emphasized that her health was the top priority while reassuring fans that the condition was not seriously affecting her daily life.
Patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction occurs when a tube inside the ear that normally stays closed remains open.
It may cause people to hear their own voice or breathing unusually loudly and can create pressure or discomfort in the ear. The condition may be especially challenging for singers who depend on hearing their pitch clearly.
After IU’s announcement, fans responded with messages of support and encouraged her not to apologize.
Many wrote, “Your health is the most important”, “Please take all the time you need to recover”, and “We will wait for you, so do not push yourself”.
