tvN’s long awaited drama “Signal 2” has reportedly confirmed its broadcast schedule after a delay.
According to reports on June 30, “Signal 2”, also known as “Second Signal”, is set to air as a tvN Monday Tuesday drama starting November 30. The series will have 8 episodes and is scheduled to run until December 22.
The drama is the follow up to the hit series “Signal” and comes about 10 years after the original. It was first expected to air this month for tvN’s 20th anniversary, but the schedule was pushed back after controversy surrounding actor Cho Jin Woong.
Filming for “Signal 2” was already completed in August last year. However, the broadcast was delayed after reports about Cho Jin Woong’s past juvenile record surfaced before the drama’s release.
The production team reportedly reviewed several options, including editing and AI work, but decided to keep his scenes without edits.
At the time, Cho Jin Woong’s agency Saram Entertainment apologized and said, “After confirming with the actor, we confirmed that there were actions he did wrong when he was a minor”.
The agency also added that the matter happened “more than 30 years ago,” making it difficult to fully confirm every detail, and that the related legal process had already ended.
The original “Signal” followed detectives in the present and past who become connected through a mysterious radio and work together to solve long unsolved cases.
The drama was a major hit, with its final episode recording 13.4% nationwide ratings, according to Nielsen Korea.
“Signal 2” stars Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo, and Cho Jin Woong. The script is written by Kim Eun Hee, while Ahn Tae Jin is directing.
