Kim Mu Yeol shared an emotional behind the scenes story about the success of his Netflix series “Teach You a Lesson”.

On June 26, tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” released a preview featuring Kim Mu Yeol and his wife, actress Yoon Seung Ah. In the clip, Kim Mu Yeol opened up about the moment he learned that “Teach You a Lesson” had ranked No. 1 globally.

Kim Mu Yeol said he first heard the news through a phone call from the director. He recalled, “I first heard that it ranked No. 1 through a phone call from the director”.

He continued, “After hanging up, I told my wife, but I could not even say the words, ‘They said it ranked No. 1 globally.’ I was so moved, and because I was in front of my wife, I started crying”.

The actor said the moment became a special memory for the couple. He shared, “We held each other and cried. I remember that moment”.

He added that even if they face difficult times in the future, the memory of crying together will likely become a source of strength.

Yoon Seung Ah also spoke about how meaningful the moment was. She said, “Kim Mu Yeol is not the type to show tears. I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen him cry.” She added that this was the first time she saw him cry while saying, “Thank you.”

She also shared the words she told him at that moment, saying, “You worked hard.”

“Teach You a Lesson” has been showing strong results on Netflix since its release on the 5th. The series has ranked No. 1 in Netflix’s global non English show category for 3 straight weeks, gaining attention both in Korea and overseas.

Kim Mu Yeol has received praise for his role as Na Hwa Jin, an inspector from the Office for the Protection of Teachers’ Rights.

The drama follows the story of an organization created to protect a troubled school environment, without revealing major spoilers.
