Lee Seung Gyu looked back on working with the late Song Young Kyu in Netflix’s “Teach You a Lesson.”

In the series, Lee Seung Gyu played Ryu Jun Hyung, the son of lawmaker Ryu Gwang Pil, played by Song Young Kyu. The two appeared as a father and son who relied heavily on power and influence. “Teach You a Lesson” has continued to gain attention after ranking No. 1 on Netflix’s global non English series chart.

During a recent interview, Lee Seung Gyu remembered Song Young Kyu as a warm senior actor. He said, “I had a really fun time filming with him.” He shared that when they first met during makeup, Song Young Kyu kindly started a conversation by asking, “Where do you live? How old are you? You are around the same age as my daughter.”

Lee Seung Gyu also said Song Young Kyu praised him after filming, saying, “Seung Gyu, your expression was really good. Thanks to you, the scene came out well.” Lee Seung Gyu said those words made him feel proud.

The actor also shared how he felt when he heard the sad news of Song Young Kyu’s passing. He said, “I could not believe it.” He added that because they had worked together and shared conversations, his heart felt heavy, and he went to pay his respects that night.

Lee Seung Gyu also revealed that a scene involving the Ryu father and son was filmed but later edited out. He explained that the scene helped show Ryu Jun Hyung’s background and emotional lack, saying he acted while thinking that the character’s behavior at school came from growing up under a strict and authoritative father.
