Lee Jun Young is becoming one of the main reasons behind the rising popularity of JTBC’s weekend drama “Reborn Rookie.”
The drama has shown a strong ratings climb after only 4 episodes. It recorded 8.2% viewership and a peak rating of 8.8%, more than doubling its first episode rating of 3.7%. The series has also broken its own highest rating with every new episode.
In the drama, Lee Jun Young plays Hwang Jun Hyun, a 27 year old man whose body holds the soul of 72 year old chairman Kang Yong Ho, played by Son Hyun Joo. After returning to Choi Sung Group as an intern, the character begins shaking up the company with bold actions and strong words.

Lee Jun Young is receiving praise for showing the clear difference between a young man and an elderly chairman through his eyes, voice tone, and way of speaking.
His performance stands out in scenes where he faces pressure from the sales team and calls out unfair workplace culture during a company dinner.

The drama also builds emotion through his family relationships. His scenes with Kang Bang Geul, played by Lee Ju Myoung, bring humor, while his quiet fatherly love adds warmth to the story.
One emotional scene that caught attention was when he looked at his wife Jo Seon Hee, played by Yoon Yoo Sun, and said, “Why have you become so thin? You must have suffered so much.” His mature gaze, despite his young appearance, left a strong impression on viewers.
“Reborn Rookie” airs every Saturday at 10:40 PM and Sunday at 10:30 PM on JTBC.
