JTBC’s “Reborn Rookie” is gaining momentum as Lee Jun Young’s character prepares to turn the situation around.
Episode 3, which aired on June 6, showed Hwang Jun Hyun, played by Lee Jun Young, moving closer to his full counterattack.
With the soul of Kang Yong Ho, played by Son Hyun Joo, inside him, Hwang Jun Hyun gained Kang Bang Geul, played by Lee Joo Myung, as an ally and secured Kang Jae Sung’s hidden funds.
The episode also achieved strong ratings. “Reborn Rookie” recorded 6.6% in the Seoul metropolitan area and 6.7% nationwide, marking JTBC’s highest rating for a 2026 Saturday Sunday drama. Its highest real time rating in the Seoul area rose to 8.1%, showing the drama’s growing popularity.
In the episode, Hwang Jun Hyun became suspicious after learning that Kang Bang Geul had become a regular employee at Choi Sung Group with approval from Kang Jae Kyung and Kang Jae Sung. He secretly followed her to find out why she wanted to stay at the company so badly.
However, Kang Bang Geul noticed his actions and followed him instead. She caught him taking money from Chairman Kang Yong Ho’s secret warehouse and questioned him. Hwang Jun Hyun then claimed he was on Kang Yong Ho’s side and convinced her to work with him against Kang Jae Kyung and Kang Jae Sung.
The story became more intense when Hwang Jun Hyun and Kang Bang Geul discovered suspicious movements involving Kang Jae Sung’s hidden funds. Tae Ha Group was also shown to be targeting the money, making the situation more dangerous.
Instead of exposing everything right away, Hwang Jun Hyun chose a bigger plan. He decided that taking down Kang Jae Sung too soon could only help Kang Jae Kyung. Because of this, he moved to secure the hidden funds for himself and use them later as a weapon.
Hwang Jun Hyun then approached the executive director in charge of the money and warned him that he was being used. After following Hwang Jun Hyun’s advice, the executive director handed over around 300 billion won in hidden funds to him. Hwang Jun Hyun smiled as if everything was going according to plan.
With Lee Jun Young’s character now holding a powerful weapon, viewers are looking forward to the next step in his revenge plan. “Reborn Rookie” airs every Saturday and Sunday on JTBC.
