‘My Royal Nemesis’ becomes the first SBS Friday-Saturday drama to top Netflix global non-English chart in its first week

SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Royal Nemesis’ is already winning over viewers around the world.

According to Netflix’s official site Tudum, ‘My Royal Nemesis’ ranked No. 1 on the Global Top 10 non-English Shows weekly chart. The ranking counted views and watch hours from May 4 to May 10.

The drama was first released on May 8, meaning it reached the top spot in only about three days.

This makes ‘My Royal Nemesis’ the first SBS Friday-Saturday drama to rank No. 1 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 non-English Shows chart during its first week of broadcast. It also set the fastest record among SBS dramas that have reached No. 1 on the same chart.

‘My Royal Nemesis’ is a romantic comedy about unknown actress Shin Seo Ri, who becomes “evil” after being possessed by the spirit of a wicked woman from the Joseon era, and Cha Se Gye, a cruel chaebol heir who is called a monster created by capitalism.

The drama stars Lim Ji Yeon as Kang Dan Sim / Shin Seo Ri and Heo Nam Jun as Cha Se Gye. Viewers are praising its bold “bloody romantic comedy” concept, Lim Ji Yeon’s strong performance, the witty script, the fun chemistry between Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun, and the detailed directing.

The drama has also gained attention for its funny scenes, including the “flower fight” scene and other comic moments linked to the Jang Hee Bin possession storyline.
