Shin Hye Sun shared the behind the scenes story of how she prepared for her role as Sarah Kim in Netflix’s “The Art of Sarah.”
On the May 6 broadcast of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block”, Shin Hye Sun appeared as a guest and talked about the pressure she felt while taking on a new type of role.
The actress explained that she wanted to try the project because it was a genre she had never done before. However, after accepting the role, she realized that Sarah Kim was not an easy character to play.
Shin Hye Sun said Sarah Kim is a fraudster, but still had to look trustworthy and elegant to viewers. She honestly shared, “When you look at me normally, I am not elegant.”
To better match the character, Shin Hye Sun decided to lower her voice tone. She said her natural voice is high, so she practiced using a lower tone for Sarah Kim. However, it was not easy at first.
She recalled feeling unprepared during the script reading and said, “I just read it like I was reading a book.” She added that the mood on set felt heavy afterward, making her feel “sorry and guilty.”
Despite the difficult start, Shin Hye Sun’s effort showed how seriously she prepared for the role and how much she worked to bring Sarah Kim to life.
