Singer and actress IU recently shared her honest first impression of actor Byeon Woo Seok, drawing attention for her praise of his natural visuals.
On April 5, a video featuring IU and Byeon Woo Seok was released on the YouTube channel ‘MBCdrama’, where the two talked about their experience working together in the drama ‘Perfect Crown.’
During the interview, Byeon Woo Seok asked IU about her first impression of him when they first met. IU recalled that their first meeting happened at his office, and not under typical styled conditions.
She explained, “When we first met, he hadn’t gone to the shop”, referring to not having professional styling. She added that he walked in wearing a hat, but still left a strong impression.
IU said, “Even in that natural look, I thought, ‘Wow, it’s Byeon Woo Seok,’ and ‘How can he look this cool?’ His aura was surprising,” highlighting how striking his presence was even without preparation.
The conversation then shifted to IU’s character ‘Sung Hee Joo’. When asked about her similarity to the role, IU responded honestly, saying, “This question is a bit difficult. At the beginning, her personality is not very good”, making everyone laugh.
Byeon Woo Seok shared his perspective, explaining that while filming, he came to understand the character better, saying he could see “why she ended up having that kind of personality”.
IU also admitted that the role had influenced her in real life. She shared, “To be honest, while filming, parts of my own personality became like Hee Joo”.
She added that it once reached “about 90%”, but now has settled to “around 70 to 80%,” and noted that she is trying to move away from those traits as filming recently ended.
