Byeon Woo Seok is already drawing major attention ahead of his next drama, as fans eagerly wait to see whether ‘Perfect Crown’ can become the actor’s next big romance hit after the explosive popularity of ‘Lovely Runner.’
Following the huge success of ‘Lovely Runner’ in 2024, which helped cement Byeon Woo Seok’s image as one of the hottest rising stars in romantic dramas, expectations are now especially high for his return in a new palace romance.
Ahead of the drama’s premiere, Byeon Woo Seok shared his honest thoughts about coming back with a new role, saying, “I’m also very excited and looking forward to greeting viewers with a new character after a long time.”
He also thanked fans for the growing attention surrounding the series, adding, “I’m grateful that so many people seem to be showing interest, and I want to show an even better side of myself because of that.”
In ‘Perfect Crown,’ Byeon Woo Seok plays Grand Prince Ian, a royal second son who has spent his life hiding himself because of his position in the palace.
The actor described the character using the keywords “loneliness, spirit, and loved by the people,” hinting at a prince who appears elegant and admired on the outside but carries a more isolated and emotionally complicated life behind the scenes.
Explaining the role further, he said that while the prince “never loses his dignity in public” and maintains the pride expected of royalty, he is also someone who has “nowhere in the royal family where he can truly feel at ease.”
Even so, he described him as “the royal family member most loved by the people,” adding even more curiosity around the character’s emotional depth.
When talking about the romance side of the drama, Byeon Woo Seok said he focused on the story already written into the script, explaining, “I tried to focus on Grand Prince Ian’s story contained in the script,” and added that he strongly believed the written narrative alone would naturally make the prince’s romance feel deeper and more convincing.
He also introduced the series as a drama set in the unique backdrop of a 21st century constitutional monarchy, saying one of the biggest fun points will be watching what choices each character makes and what results those choices bring.
He added that the changing relationships between the characters will be another key point to watch, while also teasing strong visual appeal through the drama’s art direction, sets, and costumes.
With anticipation already high thanks to Byeon Woo Seok’s post ‘Lovely Runner’ momentum, ‘Perfect Crown’ is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched new romance dramas of the coming month.
