The director of Boyfriend on Demand is drawing attention after sharing honest comments about casting Lee Soo Hyuk and Seo Kang Joon.

On February 26, Director Kim Jeongsik attended the production press conference for the upcoming Netflix series at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Jongno gu, Seoul.

There, he explained why Lee Soo Hyuk was chosen to appear as one of the characters in the virtual dating subscription service featured in the drama.

The director shared, “The first actor who appears in the subscription service is Lee Soo Hyuk. I wanted someone who looks like AI, like he stepped out of a comic book, so I chose him.”

He also revealed that the role required exaggerated and cheesy acting. “He had to do some cheesy acting, but he endured it well. I told him that if he acted this way, people would think he was good at acting. The response was good, and I think he was satisfied too,” he said, thanking the actor for trusting the direction.

About Seo Kang Joon, the director simply hinted at more to come, saying, “He has excellent visuals and also has a surprising side,” raising curiosity without giving away details.

He further mentioned that the storyline involving Gyeong Nam, played by Seo In Guk, is important to the main plot.

“The twists and stronger scenes come from Seo In Guk and Jisoo, so it will be more fun to watch in the middle and later parts,” he added, heightening anticipation.

Boyfriend on Demand is a romantic comedy about a webtoon PD who turns to a virtual dating simulation after growing tired of real life. The series is set to premiere on March 6.
