Shin Hye Sun is set to captivate viewers with a complex new role in the upcoming Netflix series The Art of Sarah, where she plays a woman hiding multiple identities behind one name.
Premiering on the 13th,The Art of Sarah is a mystery thriller that follows Sara Kim, a woman who wanted to become a luxury brand even if she was fake, and detective Mu Gyeong, played by Lee Jun Hyuk, who tracks her ambition and secrets.
Sara Kim is known as the Asia branch director of the top luxury brand “Budoir,” a powerful figure recognized by both the industry and the public. However, very little is known about her true identity, including her age, background, or education. Behind her glamorous image, she hides another life.
The story begins with the discovery of Sara Kim’s body in Cheongdam dong’s luxury district. From there, the drama follows detective Mu Gyeong as he searches for the truth, moving between past and present while raising questions about what is real and what is fake.
At the center of the series is Shin Hye Sun’s performance. She takes on the challenge of portraying Sara Kim’s different personalities across timelines, as the character’s identity and choices shape the direction of the entire story. The role demands careful emotional control, as Sara Kim carries both power and deep inner conflict.
A representative from her agency shared, “Shin Hye Sun worked hard to build the inner world of a character who carries multiple lives and faces under one name. On the outside, she appears perfect as the Asia branch director of Budoir, but inside she carries emptiness, anxiety, and a desire to become real.” The representative added, “Rather than showing strong emotions, she focused on controlled expressions, adjusting small details like her gaze, breathing, and speed of speech to show the character’s many layers.”
With its focus on identity, illusion, and ambition,The Art of Sarah is drawing attention ahead of its release, with Shin Hye Sun expected to lead the mystery through her layered performance.
