
MBC’s weekend drama Moon River has officially come to an end, and it did so with impressive ratings that caught viewers’ attention until the very last episode.
According to Nielsen Korea, the final episode of Moon River, which aired on the 20th, recorded 6.8% nationwide ratings and 6.4% in the metropolitan area, marking the drama’s highest ratings throughout its run.
At its peak, the drama even climbed to 7.5%, proving its strong popularity and solid viewer support.
From the beginning, Moon River stood out for its unique mix of a historical setting and a soul change storyline, as well as the noticeable chemistry between leads Kim Sejeong and Kang Tae Oh.
The drama steadily gained attention through word of mouth, leading to its strongest performance during its finale week.
The series followed the story of a Joseon crown prince and a merchant woman whose lives become closely connected, blending romance, fantasy, and emotional moments in a way that appealed to a wide audience.
Kim Sejeong received praise for her performance, especially as this marked her first lead role in a historical drama, while Kang Tae Oh was also well received for his calm and stable portrayal.
With its peak ratings and No. 1 ranking in its time slot, Moon River successfully wrapped up its broadcast run on a high note. The drama’s strong finish once again highlights the continued popularity of well made historical romance series among viewers.
Moon River concluded on the 20th, and MBC’s next drama, The Judge Returns, is set to take over the time slot starting on the 2nd, airing every Friday and Saturday at 9:40 PM.
