Actress Kang Ye Won recently opened up about unexpected side effects after her epicanthoplasty (eye corner) restoration, sharing a funny yet heartfelt story that left viewers laughing and touched.
On the 20th, Han Chae Ah’s YouTube channel released a video titled, “Kang Ye Won: ‘I might live alone like this and die’…Visited my sister’s house and got asked for a blind date…haha.”
In the video, Han Chae Ah visited Kang Ye Won’s home, and the two shared a meal while chatting. Kang Ye Won recalled a recent restaurant visit: “I saw Senior Jeon Do Yeon having a meal with her daughter. She was wearing a hat, so my friend told me it was her. I had never seen her before, but since she’s a senior, I thought I should greet her.”

She explained her approach: “I said, ‘Hello, I’m Kang Ye Won. People don’t recognize me these days, but I’m Kang Ye Won.’ She warmly replied, ‘Oh my!’ I tried to turn the awkwardness into humor. She even paid for the meal, and later told me, ‘Thank you for coming to greet me first.’”
Kang Ye Won reflected on the experience: “I asked why she was thankful, and she said, ‘Many people don’t do that.’ I realized that even though I was just shy, others might see it differently.”
Han Chae Ah agreed, adding, “There are many reasons someone might not greet you. They could be shy, uncomfortable, or not recognize you, especially if they are new.”

Kang Ye Won joked about her new approach: “Now I have to say, ‘People don’t recognize me these days. I’m Kang Ye Won,’ and maybe even show them on Naver,” making viewers laugh.
She also candidly shared, “People see me after a long time and go, ‘Huh?’ It hurts. So I always introduce myself: ‘Hello, I’m Kang Ye Won.’”
Last year, Kang Ye Won revealed how her face changed after her epicanthoplasty restoration, and now she is openly sharing the unexpected side effects and humorous moments that came with it.
