Park Seo Joon’s long-awaited romance comeback starts slow as ‘Surely Tomorrow’ debuts with 2.7 percent and loses the ratings battle

Park Seo Joon’s return to romance after seven years is gaining attention, but his new JTBC weekend drama Surely Tomorrow opened with softer numbers than expected.

According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode recorded 2.7 percent nationwide, a quiet start that falls below the 2.9 percent premiere rating of its predecessor The Dream Life of Mr. Kim.

It also landed far behind tvN’s new weekend drama Pro Bono, which launched stronger at 4.5 percent on the same night.

While expectations were high for Park Seo Joon’s first romance drama since What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, the debut episode faced tough competition.

SBS’s Taxi Driver 3 dominated the same time slot with a powerful 12.0 percent, hitting its highest rating yet. MBC’s Moon River followed with 5.3 percent.

Other weekend dramas also showed mixed results. KBS 2TV’s Last Summer stayed in the lower range with 2.1 percent, while Our Golden Days, led by Jung Il Woo, kept its position as the weekend ratings leader with 15.5 percent.

All eyes are now on whether Surely Tomorrow can rise in the coming episodes and deliver the strong comeback fans are hoping for.
