BTS’s V has officially reached another huge milestone in his solo career, becoming the No.1 most-followed K-pop solo artist on Spotify after surpassing 20 million followers.

As of October 5, V recorded 20,001,176 followers, making him the first K-pop soloist in history to achieve this number. His followers have already grown past 20.03 million, proving his steady global popularity. Among all K-pop acts, both groups and solo artists, he now ranks 4th overall.

V’s Spotify page currently includes 16 credited songs, from his debut album Layover to drama OSTs and self-produced tracks. Altogether, his songs have been streamed over 5.18 billion times on the platform.

His album Layover made an impressive impact worldwide, debuting at No.2 on the U.S. Billboard 200, tying the highest record for a K-pop solo artist. Every track from the album has also surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify — the first K-pop solo album ever to achieve that.

V also made history by becoming the first K-pop solo artist to have every song from one album chart on both the Billboard Global 200 and Global 200 (Excl. U.S.). In the U.S., he became the first Asian soloist to sell over 100,000 units per track.

His artistic side was further recognized at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, where Layover won Favorite Debut Album, competing with global releases beyond K-pop.

Foreign media have also praised his artistry. The British outlet NME described Layover as “a captivating result of an artist who chose artistry over commercial appeal,” while Time Out UK included it among the “Top 30 Albums of 2023.”

Even before Layover, V had already shown his artistic growth with tracks like Stigma and Singularity, both praised by major outlets such as TIME, The Guardian, and The New York Times. His OST Christmas Tree for Our Beloved Summer was the first Korean OST to enter the Billboard Hot 100, and his self-produced song Sweet Night became No.1 on iTunes in 119 countries — the first song in the world to do so.

TIME Magazine even called Sweet Night proof of V’s talent as a true singer-songwriter.

By continuing to create music that reflects his unique artistry and emotion, V has proven that he’s not just following trends — he’s setting them. With his growing fanbase and record-breaking success, V has firmly established himself as one of the most influential solo artists in the world.
