tvN’s new weekend drama “Typhoon Family” has kicked off with a strong start, capturing the hearts of viewers and topping its time slot with impressive ratings.

According to Nielsen Korea, the premiere episode on October 11 recorded an average nationwide rating of 5.9% and a peak of 7.1%, while the Seoul metropolitan area achieved an average of 5.7% and a peak of 7.1%.

This made “Typhoon Family” the No.1 show in its time slot across all channels, including public broadcasters. It also set the highest premiere record among all 2025 tvN weekend dramas so far.

The drama also proved its popularity among younger audiences, earning No.1 in the 2049 key demographic with an average of 1.8% and a peak of 2.4%.

Fans praised the show for its detailed portrayal of 1997 Korea, from nostalgic fonts and pagers to cassette tapes and old city phones. Many commented that it felt “just like stepping back in time.”

Lead stars Lee Junho and Kim Min Ha also received glowing reviews for their natural chemistry and emotional performances, which perfectly matched the story’s nostalgic tone.
