BTS’s V is proving once again why he’s called a global icon, dominating Japan’s popularity charts while making headlines for his Dodgers first pitch.
From August 25 to August 31, V ranked No. 1 for the 231st consecutive week on Japan’s idol ranking site NEHAN. At the same time, he also topped the 20s Korean actor category on BIHAN for the 227th week in a row.
On K-board, V continued his streak at No. 1 for 187 weeks in the K-pop idol popularity ranking, while also sweeping the Korean drama male actor and Flower Boy categories. On K-pop Juice, he held both the daily and all-time No. 1 spots, even topping the “favorites” registration list.

Beyond charts, V’s influence is everywhere in Japan. His ceremonial first pitch at the LA Dodgers game on August 26 (KST) became a hot topic, broadcast nationwide on TV, highlighted on Yahoo Japan and LINE News, and splashed across the front pages of five major sports newspapers.
Japanese model and actress Risa Hirako shared her excitement online, writing:
“As soon as I heard that V was going to throw the first pitch, I rushed to buy a ticket. When V appeared on the field at Dodger Stadium, the cheers were like a concert. Not only fans but even Dodgers supporters were excited, recording him on their phones.”
Her post quickly went viral, climbing to the top of LINE News Japan and proving that V’s impact goes far beyond the game.
