The Netflix animated film K-pop Demon Hunters is making music history as its OST track Golden has returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
On August 26 (KST), Billboard announced the latest Hot 100 rankings, confirming that Golden climbed back to No. 1, rising from No. 2 the previous week. The song also secured the No. 1 spot on both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts on the same day.
The Hot 100 ranks songs based on U.S. streaming, radio airplay, and sales, and Golden’s steady climb has amazed many. The track debuted last month at No. 81, then gradually rose through No. 23, No. 6, No. 4, and No. 2, before finally hitting No. 1 in its 7th week. After briefly slipping back, it has now reclaimed the top spot, showing its lasting power.

Billboard highlighted the historic moment, stating:
“K-pop Demon Hunters has become the first soundtrack in the 67-year history of the chart to have four songs in the top 10.”
The other tracks are Your Idol (No. 4), Soda Pop (No. 5), and How It’s Done (No. 10) — proving the OST’s incredible impact.

Earlier this month, Golden also reached No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Top 100, making it one of the rare songs to top both the U.S. and UK charts.
Golden is performed by the virtual K-pop girl group Huntrix, with vocals recorded by Korean-American artists Lee Jae (a former SM Entertainment trainee and composer), Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. Billboard noted that Lee Jae and Rei Ami were born in Seoul, while Audrey Nuna hails from New Jersey. Lee Jae also participated in writing and composing the track.

After the announcement, Lee Jae posted a screenshot of the Hot 100 chart on August 12 (KST) with the caption:
“I have no words… only tears. Thank you to everyone who sent love.”
With this milestone, K-pop Demon Hunters is officially rewriting music history, proving the global impact of K-pop even in animated form.
