BigHit Music’s new boy group CORTIS is already making waves overseas — even before their official debut.

On August 18, CORTIS (James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, and Keonho) will officially debut, but they’ve already caught the attention of American music magazine Rolling Stone.

In its latest feature, Rolling Stone spotlighted the group as “a new form of K-pop group with a freer, raw charm, unbound by traditional frameworks.”

The magazine went on to call them “the coolest K-pop debut of the year,” noting that after months of anticipation and rumors, BigHit Music has finally unveiled their newest act — following in the footsteps of BTS and TXT.

The article also pointed out the strong buzz surrounding CORTIS, which has already expanded beyond Korea into the North American market.

What stood out most to Rolling Stone was the members’ creativity. CORTIS dropped the official music video for their debut album’s intro track GO! on August 11, and followed it with a conceptual performance film on August 12. According to the group, it only took them two to three days to make the choreography for GO!.

Praising their hands-on approach, the magazine wrote, “Not only do they actively participate in producing songs, but they also showcase talent in choreography and video production. Every work the team presents is filled with creative ideas”, and emphasized, “Each member is a true creator in their own field.”

With such high praise even before their debut stage, fans are already calling CORTIS one of the most exciting rookie groups to watch this year.
