A mix-up between two stars at the Blue Dragon Series Awards could’ve been awkward — but instead, it ended with laughs, apologies, and even a promise to grab a meal together.
On July 18, the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards took place at Paradise City in Incheon, hosted by Jun Hyun Moo and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA. While announcing the winners of the Popular Star Award — Park Bo Gum, Lee Hye Ri, IU, and Lee Jun Hyuk — something unexpected happened.
As soon as the name “Lee Jun Hyuk” was called, Lee Jun Young mistakenly thought it was his name and confidently walked up on stage to receive the award. But… it wasn’t for him.
MC Jun Hyun Moo quickly stepped in to explain. “Lee Jun Young is definitely a popular star, too,” he joked, “but this year, the award goes to Lee Jun Hyuk. I pronounced it clearly, so I was surprised when Lee Jun Young suddenly came up.” The crowd burst into laughter as Lee Jun Young laughed it off, handed the trophy to the real winner, and quickly stepped back.
Lee Jun Hyuk then scratched his head in slight embarrassment and walked up to the stage, making the moment even funnier.
Comedian Shin Dong Yup later shared what happened during the commercial break. “Jun Young apologized to Jun Hyuk during the break,” he said. “It was such a kind moment. Really touching.”
Despite still being at the venue, Lee Jun Young posted a heartfelt apology on social media:
“I couldn’t hear well at the venue and made a ridiculous mistake. I sincerely apologize to Lee Jun Hyuk sunbaenim and his fans again. Congratulations on your award.”
Instead of being upset, Lee Jun Hyuk responded in the best way possible:
“Thanks to you, Jun Young, it became a fun moment. Don’t worry too much. I made the same kind of mistake at the AAA before. I guess this is fate. Let’s eat together sometime.”
Lee Jun Young replied sweetly:
“Thanks to your kind heart, I think I can sleep well tonight. I’ll message you, hyung.”
Fans loved how the awkward moment turned into a heartwarming interaction — showing true professionalism and good vibes between the two stars.
