JYP Entertainment has finally spoken up about the controversy surrounding DAY6’s Jakarta concert, and fans are demanding answers.
On May 4, JYP released an official statement regarding the problems at DAY6’s 'FOREVER YOUNG' world tour stop in Jakarta on May 3.
According to the agency, the event was poorly managed by the local promoter, leading to delays and safety issues.
“Due to poor coordination with the local promoter and bad weather, the concert site was not handled well,” JYP shared through DAY6’s official channels. “There were safety concerns, and both the sound check and the concert start time were delayed.”
JYP apologized sincerely, saying, “We are very sorry to the fans who waited in the rain and to the artists who still did their best on stage out of love for their fans. We take full responsibility and will do better to protect our artists and give fans a better experience.”
The concert was originally planned for Jakarta International Stadium, but promoter MECIMA changed the venue last-minute, citing a soccer match. Ironically, that match ended up being canceled, causing even more confusion.
MECIMA also failed to properly handle ticket transfers and concert-day logistics. As of now, no formal apology from the promoter has been made.
Despite the chaos, the DAY6 members personally apologized to fans during the sound check. Sadly, some attendees still booed the group during the actual concert, and online hate against the members continues.
Fans are now calling for JYP to cut ties with MECIMA and protect DAY6 from further harm.
