• JTBC 'Newsroom' Apologizes for False Report on BTS Suga’s Drunk Driving Incident

JTBC’s 'Newsroom' has issued an official apology after mistakenly reporting that BTS member Suga was involved in a drunk driving incident.

On August 16th, during the broadcast, the anchor addressed the earlier report, which claimed that Suga was caught on CCTV riding an electric scooter while intoxicated.

The 'Newsroom' team clarified, "It has been confirmed that the man in the video was not Suga. We apologize for the confusion caused," and expressed their regret.

The original report, aired on August 7th, alleged that Suga was seen driving an electric scooter in a drunken state in Seoul's Yongsan District on the 6th.

This report led to widespread criticism, with many questioning Suga’s previous statement, where he mentioned an "accident in front of his house."

After realizing the error, JTBC quickly deleted the news videos from various platforms and replaced the CCTV footage with unrelated road video.

Earlier, on August 6th, Suga had admitted to riding an electric scooter after drinking, which led to a fall. He apologized, saying, "I rode an electric scooter home after drinking, thinking the short distance was safe. I didn’t realize it was illegal. I fell while trying to park the scooter, and a police officer nearby tested me, resulting in my license being revoked and a fine."

The controversy grew when it was revealed that Suga’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.227%, far above the legal limit.

The incident has caused a divide among fans, with some supporting Suga and others demanding his departure from the group.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”
