MBC's upcoming psychological thriller The Perfect Lie, starring Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin, has officially completed filming and is preparing for its October 30 premiere.
The new Friday and Saturday drama consists of 12 episodes, with production already wrapped up before its television debut.
According to reports, The Perfect Lie was filmed between February and August 2026, allowing the production team to complete the entire series ahead of its scheduled release.
The drama will premiere on October 30 at 9:50 p.m. KST on MBC, with episodes also available on Disney+ every Friday and Saturday.
The Perfect Lie follows two people whose accounts of the same event are completely different, leaving viewers questioning who is telling the truth.
The story begins after what appears to be a perfect first date, but the two main characters later make conflicting claims about what happened.
Yoo Yeon Seok plays Min Jun Ho, a cardiac surgeon who appears caring but also has a cold and distant side.
Seo Hyun Jin portrays Kang Ji Seon, an elementary school librarian whose version of events challenges Jun Ho's account.
Rather than revealing which character is being truthful, the drama is designed to keep viewers questioning both sides as new information emerges.
The promotional posters highlight this uncertainty with the statement, "You're the one who lied."
Yoo Yeon Seok previously explained what makes the upcoming series interesting.
He shared, "The Perfect Lie is a drama where every new fact revealed in each episode changes how you see the characters and the situation."
The actor also explained that he focused on maintaining a balance in his performance so viewers would not immediately take one character's side.
Joining the two leads are Ok Ja Yeon as Lee Hwa Young, Kim Ji Hyun as Kang Ji Eun, Lee Chun Hee as Kim Hyung Soo, and Oh Dong Min as Park Joong Hyun.
The series is directed by Jo Young Min, who previously worked with Yoo Yeon Seok on JTBC's The Interest of Love, while Baek Jae Young serves as the screenwriter.
Although filming has already finished, The Perfect Lie is also attracting attention for bringing Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin together again after 10 years.
The actors previously starred in the 2016 SBS medical drama Dr. Romantic, where they played doctors Kang Dong Joo and Yoon Seo Jung.
That series became a major ratings success, with its final episode recording 27.6% nationwide ratings, 29.0% in the metropolitan area, and 30.9% in Seoul, according to Nielsen Korea.
It also achieved an average nationwide rating of 20.4% during its run.
However, their upcoming project will feature a very different relationship.
Instead of working together as medical professionals, their characters in The Perfect Lie find themselves on opposing sides of a dispute involving conflicting memories and claims.
With all 12 episodes already filmed, the production is now ready for its scheduled premiere.
Attention is turning to how Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin will portray two characters whose versions of the same event cannot both be completely accurate.
