BIGBANG’s latest comeback is giving some of the group’s biggest past hits a major boost on Korean music charts.
According to data released by Melon, BIGBANG’s new digital single BiiiG quickly reached No. 1 on both the Melon TOP100 and daily charts following its release on August 19. At the same time, older songs including Haru Haru, Still Life, and Lies began climbing the rankings again.
The renewed interest comes as BIGBANG celebrates its 20th anniversary and returns with full-group activities after four years and four months.
Among the older tracks, Haru Haru showed the biggest jump. The 2008 hit had an average daily chart position of No. 224 in July, but entered the Melon TOP100 at No. 91 on August 23 before rising to No. 67 on August 24.
Melon said streams for Haru Haru increased by 298% compared with its July average.
BIGBANG’s 2022 song Still Life also made a comeback on the chart. After averaging No. 231 in July, the song entered the TOP100 at No. 95 on August 23 and climbed to No. 86 the following day.
Meanwhile, the group’s 2007 hit Lies returned to the TOP100 at No. 100 before moving up to No. 90 on August 24.
The chart revival followed BIGBANG’s BIGBANG 2026-2027 WORLD TOUR ‘XX: COSMOS’ IN GOYANG concerts from August 21 to 23, where all three songs were included in the setlist. Increased listening before and after the concerts appears to have contributed to the renewed attention.
Overall streaming for BIGBANG’s entire catalog on Melon increased by 333% in August compared with the group’s average streaming figures in July.
Their new single BiiiG has also shown strength beyond South Korea, ranking No. 1 for two consecutive weeks on the Global K-Chart operated by Melon, Tencent Music, and LINE MUSIC.
The results show that BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary activities are not only driving interest in their new music but also bringing songs released nearly two decades ago back onto the charts.
