Gong Hyo Jin has shared her thoughts on the strong response to her current drama A Bona Fide Killer, while also casually reflecting on the weaker performance of her previous series When the Stars Gossip.

On August 19, Gong Hyo Jin spoke about her recent projects during an interview ahead of the release of her new film The Journey to Gyeongju.

She is currently starring in MBC’s A Bona Fide Killer as Yoo Bo Na, a married woman who secretly works as a killer. The drama has recently reached double-digit ratings, drawing increased attention as it continues its run.

With the drama performing well and The Journey to Gyeongju also preparing for release, Gong Hyo Jin admitted that the timing feels almost unreal.

She said, “It feels like I’m dreaming. There were times in the past when projects I was part of received a lot of love at the same time.”

She recalled a similar period when When the Camellia Blooms was airing while her film Crazy Romance was also in theaters.

However, Gong Hyo Jin said she is trying not to become too focused on the current success.

She explained, “Ratings can suddenly fall or stay the same, so I’m trying not to get too excited. At the same time, I think, ‘Today might be the happiest day, so I shouldn’t worry about what comes next.’”

She added that the director of A Bona Fide Killer also worries about how future episodes will perform, but she encouraged the team to enjoy the positive response they are receiving now.

Gong Hyo Jin then briefly addressed her previous tvN drama When the Stars Gossip, which received mixed reactions and struggled to gain strong ratings.

Taking a lighthearted approach, she joked, “Maybe I’m better suited for network television. Perhaps older viewers like me.”

Rather than dwelling on the previous result, Gong Hyo Jin said experience has helped her become more comfortable with both success and disappointment.

She shared, “I’m no longer at an age where I’m afraid of disappointment. I’ve already experienced it.”

She added that she simply wants to appreciate the positive results she is receiving now.

Meanwhile, Gong Hyo Jin will also appear alongside Lee Jung Eun, Park So Dam, and Lee Yeon in The Journey to Gyeongju, which is scheduled to open in theaters on August 26.
