Actor Kang Hoon shared his honest thoughts about being a devoted fan, saying that admiring a favorite celebrity from a distance may be the best choice.
On July 28, Kang Hoon attended an online press conference for tvN’s upcoming Monday Tuesday drama My Bias, My Boss alongside Kim Hye Joon, Cha Woo Min, and director Park Ji Hyun.
The fantasy office romantic comedy follows new employee Nam Da Reum, who unexpectedly begins working for the celebrity she admires. Based on the Naver webtoon My Oppa Is an Idol, the drama stars Kang Hoon as company CEO Kang Ha Gi, Kim Hye Joon as Nam Da Reum, and Cha Woo Min as Lee Chan.
When asked what he would do if he had the chance to work for his own favorite celebrity, Kang Hoon said he would rather remain a fan.
He explained, “I would stay as a fan. Wouldn’t watching from a distance be the most ideal?”
Kang Hoon added that meeting someone in person could either strengthen or change the image a fan has created.
He said, “They could be even more impressive and perfect in person, but there is also a chance that I could feel disappointed. I want to keep that fantasy in my mind.”
His response drew attention because Kang Hoon is known as a longtime fan of Girls’ Generation member Taeyeon.
He met Taeyeon for the first time after his debut during a December 2024 appearance on tvN’s Amazing Saturday. At the time, he created a playful acrostic poem and asked her, “Taeyeon noona, what do you think about younger men?”
His latest comments appeared to be a lighthearted reflection on fandom rather than a serious statement about Taeyeon.
My Bias, My Boss will premiere on August 3 at 8:45 p.m. KST as the follow-up to See You At Work Tomorrow.
