TWICE leader Jihyo has become the subject of contract speculation after a report claimed that she may leave JYP Entertainment and establish her own agency.

On July 14, JYP Entertainment responded by confirming that contract discussions with TWICE are still underway.

The agency stated, “TWICE is currently in the contract renewal discussion period, and careful discussions are continuing. We will provide an update once a decision has been made.”

The statement came after JoyNews24 reported that Jihyo was preparing to leave JYP Entertainment and create an independent management company. However, no final decision has been officially announced.

Jihyo joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee in 2005 and trained for approximately 10 years before debuting as TWICE’s leader and main vocalist in 2015.

Since her debut, she has gained recognition for her vocals, performances, and leadership. She also began her solo career in 2023 with the release of her first mini album, “ZONE.”

All nine members of TWICE renewed their contracts with JYP Entertainment in 2022. As the group enters another contract discussion period, reports have also raised questions about the future plans of Jeongyeon, Tzuyu, and Chaeyoung.

For now, JYP Entertainment has said that discussions remain ongoing and that an official announcement will be made after the members’ plans are finalized.
