Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung brought laughter after joking that she may have debuted in the wrong era.
On the June 20 broadcast of MBC’s “Hangout with Yoo?”, the cast watched Girls’ Generation’s debut video while looking back at the group’s early days.
During the conversation, Hyoyeon pointed out that Sooyoung did not appear much in the video and said, “Sooyoung did not appear much back then, so she did not have much to do.”
Yoo Jae Suk then asked why Sooyoung had so few parts, and Joo Woo Jae jokingly guessed that it may have been because she was too tall. Hyoyeon explained, “At that time, she was considered very tall among idols.”
Sooyoung then honestly joked, “I feel like I was born in the wrong era.” She added, “There are many tall people now, like Jang Won Young. If I had debuted as a girl group member now, wouldn’t I have been the center?”
However, Hyoyeon quickly made everyone laugh by teasing her, saying, “I do not think so. Your hair would be flying around too much, and you would be too extra.”
The playful exchange showed the comfortable chemistry between the Girls’ Generation members while also bringing attention to how idol trends have changed over the years.
