Jung Kyung Ho and Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung have reportedly ended their relationship after 14 years of public dating.
The two were known as one of Korea’s longest running celebrity couples, so the breakup news has left many fans surprised and saddened. Following the report, Jung Kyung Ho’s past interview comments about Soo Young have resurfaced online.
Around nine months ago, Jung Kyung Ho mentioned Sooyoung during an interview for his movie “Boss”. At the time, he showed affection by saying, “When the movie is released, I will go to the theater with Choi Soo Young and watch it together”.
In “Boss”, Jung Kyung Ho played Kang Pyo, a former gangster who is deeply into tango. Since the role required him to dance, he was asked if he had received lessons from Sooyoung, who is a member of Girls’ Generation.
Jung Kyung Ho replied with a laugh, “I could not even dare to ask her”, and added, “She probably just thought, ‘I guess that is what he is doing’”.
He also said Sooyoung had not been able to watch the film at the time because she was filming, but added, “When it is released, we can just go to the theater and watch it together. I think that would help our movie more”.
However, both agencies later confirmed on June 9, “Due to their busy schedules, their relationship naturally became distant, and they eventually broke up”.
After the breakup, both stars are expected to continue focusing on their careers. Jung Kyung Ho is currently filming the upcoming drama “Tempting Romance”, while Sooyoung is preparing to appear in the play “The Merchant of Venice” from July 8 to August 9.
