Girl’s Day member Yura opened up about the biggest weight change she has experienced and how strict dieting affected her appearance.
On May 22, Yura uploaded a new video on her YouTube channel “Yura Yura Hae,” where she talked with actress Kim Hee Jung.
The two shared that they became close while filming the 2023 movie “Marrying the Mafia: Returns,” even though they first seemed very different from each other.
Yura and Kim Hee Jung said, “At first, we looked very different from each other, but the more we met, the more we found many things in common.”
They also shared that being the same age and coming from nearby regions helped them become closer faster.
During the conversation, Yura talked about a surprising change she went through while filming. She said she had maintained 47 kg for about four years, but while working on the movie, she drank alcohol almost every day and gained 8 kg in just two months.
Yura shared, “I gained as much as 8 kg in two months and became 56 kg.” When Kim Hee Jung pointed out that 56 kg is normal for someone who is 170 cm tall, Yura explained, “I had never gone above 54 kg even once in my life, so it was the first weight I had ever seen.”
Because of the sudden weight gain, Yura said she went on a strict diet. She stopped drinking and barely ate, quickly returning to 47 kg. However, she admitted that losing weight this way had a visible effect on her face.
Yura said, “Losing weight when you are older is different from when you are young. My face became deeply sunken, and I suddenly looked much older.”
She later gained some weight back after people around her worried that she looked too thin. Yura said, “People even told me I looked too skinny and asked if I should get a health checkup.”
She added that after returning to around 50 kg, her face looked better, saying, “As you get older, you really need to eat well.”
