Soyou is drawing attention after honestly sharing her diet routine, filming struggles, and thoughts on body image.
On the May 19 episode of “A Desperate Bite,” MC Kim Ji You visits the set of Soyou’s music video for her new song “Girl.” After finishing 3 straight days of filming, Soyou invites Kim Ji You to her home, saying, “I want to eat comfortably.”
During the episode, Soyou reveals her love for spicy food. She says, “I do not like the artificial spicy taste of capsaicin, but I love the natural spicy taste of chili peppers,” before ordering spicy stir fried octopus with Cheongyang chili pepper sauce.

Soyou also shares that she had stopped drinking alcohol for her comeback preparations, saying, “It has been a long time since I drank alcohol” and “I had stopped drinking for the perfect filming.” She then enjoys a late night spicy mukbang after the exhausting music video shoot.
The singer also opens up about her diet journey. Soyou says, “Two years ago, I reached 68kg for the first time in my life. I thought it was muscle, but it was not.” She explains that she did not cut out food completely and instead focused on working out properly, adding, “If you want to lose fat and build muscle, you have to eat carbohydrates.”
Soyou then reveals how serious she is about exercise, saying, “PT is expensive. Since it feels like a waste not to use it well, when I go to the gym, I work out for 3 hours before coming back.” Through this routine, she reportedly reduced her weight to 48kg.

She also shares the message behind her new song “Girl” and album “Off Hours.” Soyou says, “These days, people compare too many things. Do not compare your life after only seeing the pretty and good parts of other people. The first thing is to love yourself.”
Soyou also speaks honestly about hurtful comments about her appearance. She says, “When I gain weight, people tell me to lose weight and say, ‘Ajumma, stop it.’ When I lose weight, they say, ‘You lost weight, so you have no charm and no individuality.’”
However, Soyou says her mindset has changed. She explains, “In the past, I made my body to show other people, but now I make a body that looks good to me and satisfies me.”
The episode will also reveal Soyou’s surprising investment story, including how money she put into stocks about 10 years ago reportedly helped her when she bought a house.
