ENA’s new Monday-Tuesday drama 'The Scarecrow' is quickly becoming one of the network’s strongest new titles.

The drama, starring Park Hae Soo, Lee Hee Joon, and Kwak Sun Young, premiered on April 20 with a nationwide rating of 2.9 percent. The figure matched the first episode rating of its predecessor Climax, showing a solid start for the new series.

'The Scarecrow' then saw a big jump with episode 2, rising to 4.1 percent. This allowed the drama to pass the highest rating of Climax after only two episodes. It also became the first ENA Monday-Tuesday drama since Ms. Incognito to enter the 4 percent range by its second episode.

The rise continued with episode 3, which aired on April 27 and reached 5 percent. With this, 'The Scarecrow' surpassed Heroes Next Door and became the fifth highest rated ENA Monday-Tuesday drama of all time.

The drama is a crime investigation thriller about a detective looking into the real culprit behind a serial murder case, only to form an unexpected partnership with someone he strongly dislikes.

Since its premiere, viewers have praised the directing, acting, and tense atmosphere, helping the series gain strong word of mouth.

Director Park Joon Woo previously explained that the drama was not planned simply because the case was famous. He said he once met people connected to the case and heard that “the Lee Chun Jae serial murder case was misunderstood.”

He added that people often focused only on “who the culprit was,” but he felt there was another important story to tell.

He also shared that the drama began from the question of “why Lee Chun Jae was missed” and “why the case stayed unsolved for 30 years.”

'The Scarecrow' has 12 episodes in total, and only three episodes have aired so far. With its current rating of 5 percent, the drama is now just 2.1 percentage points away from the record held by Ms. Incognito.

Many viewers are now watching to see whether 'The Scarecrow' can become ENA’s highest rated Monday-Tuesday drama and possibly become the first in that slot to reach double digit ratings.

'The Scarecrow' airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM KST on ENA.
