Red Velvet’s Wendy shared a touching story about showing love to a longtime fan.
On the April 25 episode of JTBC’s Knowing Bros, Kim Jong Seo, Kang Kyun Sung, Lim Jeong Hee, Wendy, and Kim Jae Hwan appeared as guests for a special episode featuring powerful vocalists.
During the show, Wendy talked about the time she surprised a fan by singing at her wedding. The fan had supported Wendy since Red Velvet’s debut in 2014, and the surprise later gained attention online after a video from the wedding was shared.
Wendy explained that the fan gave her a wedding invitation during a fan signing event, but there was no contact information on it.
She said, “I had to contact her in order to go”, adding that she searched with her company to find a way. Wendy eventually found the groom’s contact information and secretly reached out to him.
She shared, “I asked the husband if I could sing the congratulatory song, and then I went to the wedding hall.”
Wendy also remembered the emotional moment, saying, “The bride had tears in her eyes. I felt like I was going to cry too, but I held it in.”
Wendy also spoke about her long bond with the fan. She said the fan first met her when Red Velvet debuted on August 1, 2014, and added that the fan was a high school senior at the time who would come to schedules with candy and vitamins.
The singer revealed that the fan had continued to share major life updates with her over the years, including college entrance exams, university acceptance, getting a job, and even getting a boyfriend.
Wendy said the fan once asked, “If I get married someday, can you sing at my wedding?” Wendy remembered answering, “Of course, if it is you, I will sing for you”.
The story touched viewers as Wendy showed her sincere care and gratitude toward a fan who had stayed by her side for many years.
