Actress Park Shin Hye opened up about her tough experiences in the industry, revealing how she endured harsh treatment without showing her pain, drawing attention from viewers.

On the January 30 broadcast of SBS’s variety show My Manager Is Too Harsh, Park Shin Hye appeared as the featured guest, joined by Lee Seo Jin and Kim Kwang Gyu.

During the episode, Park Shin Hye shared stories from her long career, which began as a child actress more than 20 years ago. Reflecting on that time, she said, “I really got scolded a lot,” hinting at the strict environment she grew up in while acting.

Lee Seo Jin showed understanding, commenting, “I think Shin Hye probably cried even when she wasn’t filming.” Park Shin Hye agreed and honestly shared, “I cried in secret. I would go somewhere else, cry, wipe my tears, and come back,” adding that she often cried while walking alone.

The conversation became more emotional when Park Shin Hye’s mother spoke about watching her daughter get slapped during acting scenes.

She said, “I thought it would be fake, but after seeing her get slapped for real, I still can’t watch ‘Stairway to Heaven,’” and added that it was heartbreaking to learn much later how hard things had been because Park Shin Hye never talked about it at home.

Her mother also shared, “She never cried in front of others. She would go to the bathroom, cry, wipe her tears, and come back,” adding that even directors once described Park Shin Hye as “too tough.”

Ending the moment on a lighter note, Lee Seo Jin joked, These days, Shin Hye is usually the one doing the hitting in her roles,” saying she no longer has to endure those situations, which brought laughter to the set.

Park Shin Hye’s honest story highlighted her strong mindset and long journey, earning sympathy and respect from viewers.
