BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has personally addressed speculation surrounding the tears she showed during the group’s 10th anniversary activities.
On August 9, Jisoo shared a message through Weverse explaining that it had been difficult for the members to openly express everything they were feeling because there were limits to what they could or should say.
She wrote, “There are things we want to say, things we can say, things we are allowed to say, and things we don’t necessarily need to say. I think those boundaries made it difficult for everyone to speak easily yesterday.”
Jisoo then emphasized that the feelings of all four BLACKPINK members toward their fans remained sincere.
She said, “I just want to say that all four of us love everyone so, so, so much and that we truly treasure you.”
After noticing that fans were surprised to see her cry, Jisoo lightened the mood by joking, “I’m human too. I wasn’t a robot.”
However, she also directly asked fans not to interpret her tears as a sign of something more serious.
Jisoo explained, “I hope people don’t attach many different meanings to my tears. I just want to gather all those emotions together and say that I was moved because we have spent 10 years together.”
She also pointed out that showing emotion publicly does not necessarily mean someone is feeling more deeply than others.
Jisoo said, “Just because I cried in front of people for the first time, does that mean I was the most sincere or the most upset? I don’t think so. Just because I didn’t cry during the tour doesn’t mean I wasn’t moved.”
She then expressed hope that misunderstandings and continued speculation surrounding BLACKPINK’s anniversary would come to an end.
Jisoo wrote, “There are misunderstandings and hurt feelings that happen because we don’t talk about everything. It may feel frustrating, but this was supposed to be our 10th anniversary that we celebrated together. I really hope there will be no more negative conversations or speculation that keeps growing.”
BLACKPINK held a special 10th anniversary Meet & Greet at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul on August 8. The event drew criticism from some fans over its short notice, limited attendance, and communication surrounding the schedule.
Jisoo had previously acknowledged those concerns and apologized for the communication issues, saying she felt heavy-hearted knowing that some BLINKs had been disappointed.
After Jisoo was later seen crying while leaving the event, some online users began speculating that her emotions could be connected to BLACKPINK’s future group activities.
With her latest message, however, Jisoo made clear that she does not want her tears interpreted as evidence of hidden developments. Instead, she described the moment as an emotional reaction to BLACKPINK and BLINK reaching their 10th anniversary together.
