Jung Kyung Ho surprises everyone as ‘Pro Bono’ ratings jump fast even after people thought his image was getting old

Jung Kyung Ho is proving his star power once again, as tvN’s new weekend drama Pro Bono shows a quick rise in ratings despite early doubts.

Before the premiere, some viewers wondered if his “professional role” image—after playing a doctor and a labor attorney—was starting to feel too familiar.

But the moment Pro Bono aired, the reaction flipped, and many viewers said his pick was “the right choice again.”

The drama started strong, jumping from 4.5% to 6.2% in its first week, making it clear that audiences are tuning in for Jung Kyung Ho’s performance.

He plays Kang Da Wit, a former judge who becomes a public interest lawyer, showing another confident and steady transformation.

During the press event, Jung Kyung Ho said, “Kang Da Wit is very different from the real Jung Kyung Ho,” explaining that he built the character’s tone and personality carefully with the director.

That effort seems to be paying off, as viewers praise his stable acting and the way he keeps his professional characters fresh each time.

Many also believe the drama is getting extra attention thanks to writer Moon Yoo Seok, known for hit legal dramas like Miss Hammurabi and The Devil Judge.

There’s also talk that Pro Bono benefited from the strong performance of its time-slot predecessor Typhoon Company, which ended with over 10% ratings and likely helped bring viewers straight into Jung Kyung Ho’s new series.

With Pro Bono already breaking past 6% by episode 2, the drama is off to a promising start. Viewers are now waiting to see if Jung Kyung Ho’s momentum will keep pushing the ratings higher in the coming weeks.
