BIGBANG’s Daesung recently opened up about the idea of adding new members to the group — but it seems only G-Dragon has the power to make that call.
In a new episode of Zip Daesung, Epik High members Tablo, Mithra, and Tukutz joined Daesung for a lighthearted chat. During the conversation, the topic of BIGBANG’s identity and group dynamics came up.
Tablo asked, “Wasn’t BIGBANG also between K-pop and hip-hop?” Daesung agreed, saying, “Yes, in the early days, we were criticized a lot for that. People used to say, ‘How can you call yourselves hip-hop?’”

Tablo then added, “But now, everyone recognizes BIGBANG as both a hip-hop and K-pop group. We actually see you as our rivals.” Mithra chimed in, saying, “There aren’t many teams who follow that kind of path.”

As the talk turned more playful, Tablo joked, “BIGBANG should just hold auditions and recruit four more members.” Tukutz added, “Or better yet, let’s just merge our groups.” Daesung laughed and replied, “That actually sounds better.”
When Tablo offered, “I can be like Park Joon Hyung hyung! Just give me two rap lines,” Daesung playfully responded, “You should talk to Yong-sama (G-Dragon) about that.”
Tablo then laughed, saying, “If we told Jiyong (G-Dragon) about this, he wouldn’t even listen. We don’t even have a reason to meet him,” which made everyone burst into laughter.
Fans loved the friendly banter between the two legendary groups, but Daesung’s comment made it clear — when it comes to BIGBANG’s future, the final say belongs to G-Dragon.
