Romance drama Would You Marry Me has come under fire after a scene from episode 6 was accused of promoting “proxy forgiveness” for illegal filming.
In the October 25 broadcast, Yoon Jin Kyung (played by Shin Seul Gi) was shown performing CPR on a cardiac arrest patient in a park when a man secretly filmed her without consent.
Baek Sang Hyun (played by Bae Na Ra) noticed the act, confronted the offender, and said, “Illegal filming can lead to up to seven years in prison and a fine of 50 million won. If the forensic check shows more, there’ll be no leniency — not even rich parents can help.”
After deleting the photos himself, he added, “I’ll let it go this time since it seems to be your first offense, but next time, there’ll be no mercy.”

The drama’s promotional short video highlighting this scene was titled “Bae Na Ra’s refreshing lesson to a hidden camera criminal who filmed Shin Seul Gi.” However, the clip quickly drew heavy backlash online.
Many viewers criticized the way the situation was handled, saying things like, “How can a man forgiving a hidden camera offender instead of the victim be called teaching a lesson?” and “He should’ve reported it to the police, not just let him go.”
Others added, “How does he know it’s the first offense?” and “It’s wrong to portray this as cool or heroic.”
Following the backlash, the controversial video was quietly deleted.
