Actor Lee Dong Gun has opened up about his health, leaving viewers both surprised and concerned.
On the September 21 episode of SBS’s My Little Old Boy, the preview showed Lee Dong Gun visiting the hospital for a check-up.
After tests, the doctor asked if his condition had recurred, to which he admitted, “At least once every month without fail.” The doctor responded seriously, “These symptoms are very concerning.”

Fans were also alarmed by the sight of his bloodshot eye, which looked as if it was bleeding. Lee Dong Gun explained, “There were one or two times when I felt real pain. It felt like being stabbed with an awl below my trapezius muscle. Even just breathing felt like being stabbed.”

According to the doctor, his symptoms point to a rare disease that reportedly affects only about 1% of the Korean population, raising curiosity about his exact diagnosis. His mother, watching from the studio, was visibly shocked at the news.

Lee Dong Gun also reflected on his past, sharing that he quit drinking nearly 10 years ago. He admitted, “I used to have so many thoughts when lying down that I couldn’t sleep for hours. I think I started drinking because of that fear.”
He then revealed, “A long time ago, I was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder due to a family issue. The doctor said I needed hospitalization, so I stayed in the hospital for about a month and a half to two months.”
