Singer Psy is expected to be questioned by police regarding suspicions of violating the Medical Service Act.
On September 8, the Seoul Metropolitan Police held a regular press briefing and addressed Psy’s case. A representative stated, “He has not been summoned for questioning yet, but of course, we have plans to do so.”
Police added, “We are currently questioning related people and analyzing seized items. We are investigating how the prescriptions were issued and whether there were issues with the non-face-to-face prescription process.”
The controversy stems from suspicions that Psy received prescriptions for Xanax and Stilnox from a hospital in Seoul since 2022 without in-person consultations, and allegedly had his manager collect them instead.
In response, Psy’s agency P Nation commented, “He has been prescribed sleeping pills in fixed doses under medical supervision. There was no proxy prescription. However, in the process, there were cases where a third party collected the medicine, and the police are currently investigating that.”
