BTS's Jimin makes history in Japan with ‘Who’ ranking No.2 on Spotify

BTS’s Jimin is once again proving his global power—this time dominating the Japanese charts with his hit solo track Who.

On Spotify Japan’s 2025 Mid-Year Ranking, Jimin’s Who landed at No.2, becoming the most-streamed solo foreign song in Japan during the first half of the year. The No.1 spot went to Lilac by Japan’s own Mrs. GREEN APPLE, but Jimin still stood tall as the only foreign solo artist to make it that high.

Not only is Who the top-ranked international track on the list, it’s also the highest-charting solo song without any collaborations in the entire top 10—making the achievement even more impressive.

PRTIMES Magazine in Japan praised the song’s long-lasting success. The track, which is the title song from Jimin’s second solo album MUSE (released in July 2024), has now become a steady streaming favorite in Japan, joining the U.S. and Thailand as one of the top countries where Who is loved the most.

The magazine also pointed out that it’s been three and a half years since a foreign artist made it into the top 3 of Japan’s most-streamed songs. The last to do it was BTS themselves, when Dynamite ranked No.2 in Spotify Japan’s 2021 yearly ranking.

Jimin’s chart history doesn’t stop there. Who spent 36 weeks on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and debuted at No.20 on the Billboard Japan “Streaming Songs” chart back in July 2024. Now, as it nears its 1-year anniversary, the song has been on the charts for a total of 50 weeks—showing no signs of slowing down.

And there’s more—Jimin also became the first foreign solo artist ever to reach No.1 on the Billboard Japan Artist 100 chart, and he’s remained on that chart for 61 weeks straight.

With no features, no collaborations, and no gimmicks, Jimin’s Who is winning hearts purely with his voice, artistry, and undeniable star power.
