Shocking new CCTV footage has revealed the suspect behind the disturbing graffiti that targeted K-pop legend BoA in several parts of Seoul.

On June 12, Channel A released video clips showing a short-haired woman writing hateful messages on public property. In the footage, she’s seen holding a pen and writing something on a “No Parking” sign in Seoul’s Gangnam District on June 5. She then moved on to deface a utility pole just a few meters away.

The graffiti contained vulgar insults toward BoA, including extreme and offensive phrases like "SM BoA AIDS" and "SM BoA syphilis." These hateful messages weren’t just found in Gangnam — similar graffiti appeared in other districts like Gwangjin, and even on bus stops, electronic signs, walls, and street poles all across Seoul.

The police believe the same suspect is responsible for all of the incidents and are tracking her movements through surveillance footage and other leads.

Reports of the hateful graffiti first spread on online communities on June 10, shocking fans. In response, some fans took matters into their own hands by heading out to remove or cover the graffiti themselves, hoping to protect BoA’s name.

BoA’s agency, SM Entertainment, also took immediate legal steps. A company rep stated:

“Thanks to fan reports and our own monitoring, we confirmed that insulting messages aimed at BoA were found in several areas. We visited a site near Gangnam Station and filed a police report. An investigation is now underway, and we are submitting an official complaint today.”

They continued:

“Spreading false information or insulting our artist in public are clear criminal acts. We will take strong legal action without mercy and proceed according to the law.”

SM Entertainment ended their statement with a strong warning:

“We will continue to respond firmly to all illegal and criminal acts to protect our artist.”

Fans have expressed deep concern over the situation, hoping the suspect is caught soon and that BoA stays strong through this upsetting ordeal.
